SIGNED Twice and boldly, imaginatively inscribed by Wright, solidifying his artistic credo: "Architecture is the triumph of human imagination over materials and methods and men, man in possession of his Earth, To William Crandall yrs, Frank Lloyd Wright," and signed again, sans inscription, on the verso of the title page which bears a full-page image of Wright, "Frank Lloyd Wright." Cloth-bound hardcover with clamshell case, 13.5 x 14, 165 pages. 


First edition, first issue in book format, of the "first major publication of Wright's work after the 1910-11 volume" (Sweeney). Text by Wright appears with an introduction by H. Th. Wijdeveld and contributions by others. The material originally appeared as seven consecutive issues of WENDINGEN, a Dutch art magazine, published monthly between 1918 and 1931. Wendingen served as the organ of the Architectura et Amicitia group in Amsterdam, with typography and layout by the editor, printed by Enschede en Zonen. Copies were bound up in this format, without wrappers, for more permanent distribution in book format. 


Oblong large quarto. Light tan linen, with gilt spine label designed by Wright. Profusely illustrated with drawings, photographs, etc. A highly collectible twice-signed edition teeming with reproduced architectural plans of Wright's best-known creations to that time.
