Missing from most Ayn Rand collections! SIGNED by Ayn Rand and both authors, July 18, 1962, one month after publication! First Edition, first printing of Nathaniel and Barbara Branden's first book on Who Is Ayn Rand? "Man the rational being has found his spokesman and defender, and has been released from his moral underground. That is the imperishable achievement of Ayn Rand" (P. 65).
The first advertisement for this title appeared in Rand's first publication, The Objectivist Newsletter (1962-65), announcing its mid-May 1962 publication (Vol.1, No.5, image included). In her Los Angeles Times column, August 26, 1962, Rand listed her own works and Branden's Who Is Ayn Rand? as among the "only authentic sources of information about Objectivism." After her break with the Brandens in September, 1968, she reiterated the same pronouncement.
Now long out-of-print, Who Is Ayn Rand remains an excellent introduction to Rand's novels with a thrilling biographical sketch by Barbara Branden. For the Rand collector who has everything, this will be a long-treasured acquisition!
